Denise Broadbent
U16 ACE LEDUC YELLOW (HEAD COACH)
Denise started coaching at age 13 as a Can Skate Instructor and, in the decades since, she has coached fastball, hockey, ringette, and badminton. Her volleyball coaching career began in 1993 as Head Coach of the NL Winter Games Host Team. She has coached Atomic Volleyball, as well as Junior and Senior High volleyball. For many years, Denise was a Group Fitness Instructor at the YMCA and Leduc Rec Centre - which she also regards as ‘coaching’. As an athlete, Denise played outside and middle for 30 years until an ACL injury put an end to playing at age 42. Â
In addition to being an athlete and coach, Denise has extensive experience in sport building and administration as a past Director in Leduc Ladies Volleyball League, Leduc Softball Association, Leduc Ball Federation, & Leduc Ringette Association, VP Female Hockey in Leduc Minor Hockey Association, and founding member of the Leduc Sports Hall of Fame. She is deeply passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusivity in sport and creating opportunities for girls to feel the joy and power of sport. Denise also has 18 years as a sport parent to three multi-sport daughters in both recreation and elite. Â
Denise is very eager to kick off her Club coaching career with ACE. In addition to training athletes in volleyball skill and IQ, she is looking forward to helping her athletes develop personal and life skills and hopefully inspire them to become future coaches.Â
Professionally, Denise holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Business. She works for the City of Leduc Recreation Services as a Corporate Partnerships Coordinator and is looking forward to modelling fun, communication, hard work, preparedness, kindness, and relationship skills with her team this year.Â
