Kristen Parker

U15 ACE OKOTOKS WHITE (ASSISTANT COACH)

Kristen has coached volleyball in Canada and the USA for 29 years. An accomplished volleyball player herself, she played at Mayville State University in North Dakota on a scholarship for both volleyball and fastpitch. She was known as a “utility player” and played every position. In her Manitoba high school days, she ran a 6-2 offense as a back row setter and front row middle blocker. This system worked well as she captained her high school team to their first and only Zone Championship in volleyball.

Kristen moved to Calgary in 2001 to pursue a masters degree in Kinesiology and to work as a personal trainer/strength coach. She has managed fitness facilities and pioneered programs that provide exercise therapy for people with chronic disease. Now having 17 years as a clinical kinesiologist with Alberta Health Services, Kristen has built a research based world-renowned program that emphasizes wellness and exercise for hemodialysis patients.

With the ACE organization, Kristen applies the principles of periodization, biomechanics, and plyometrics to empower young athletes to improve their technique, consistency, and efficiency in their game. Injury prevention (and rehab when needed) is also a passion for Kristen as she has managed her chronic back pain for 28 years. In her spare time, she loves yoga, home DIY projects, gardening, and being a mother to her two active children.
